| Head office is situated in Avellino, at about 40KM south-east of Naples.
This Group was founded in 1930, and, originally, it was involved in the Fresh fruit
business, as well as, in the trade of the wine/olive oil. In 1950, the owners gave to the
Group a more aggressive profile, and, they started to develope, also, the foreign
activities, building new factories, inside and outside Italy. The main activities of the Group are summarized, as follows: 1.) SEMI-MANIFACTURED FRUIT AND VEGETALS -- We are the biggest European processor of Semi-manufactured Fruit and Vegetables, with an yearly production of about 190.000 Tonnes of treated material, and, twelve factories involved. Two factories are used, also, for the production of the Dyed Non-Bleeding Cherries preserved in Acetic Vinegar. 2.) WHOLE RANGE OF GLACE' FRUIT -- We are the second Italian manifacturer, and, the fourth European processor, in the field, with three factories in Italy and one factory in Turkey. One factory is located in Montoro Inferiore (Avellino); another factory is located in Rosarno (Reggio Calabria), and, the third one "CILIEGIA" is located in Konya Area. 3.) CHERRIES PRESERVED IN ALCOHOL -- We manifacture 7.000 Tonnes of Cherries preserved in alcohol, mainly for Chocolate couverture. Our Factory is located in Castellana Grotte (Bari). 4.) CANNED FRUIT AND "MARASCHINO" CHERRIES -- Two factories are located in Italy, "IMPERIAL FRUIT" and "DE STEFANO", and, one factory is located in Turkey, "CHERRY VALLEY". A new factory is, just operating, from last year, in Bulgary, for the production of Canned Fruit. The Factory involved in the production of the "Maraschino" Cherries is located in Avella (AV). 5.) IQF AND BLOCK-FROZEN FRUIT -- An yearly average of 8.000 Tonnes is manifactured (expecially Dark Red Cherries, Halves Apricots and Strawberries). 6.) OLIVE OIL AND WINE/BALSAMIC VINEGAR -- Our Group have two factories, for the production of these articles. We manifacture, also, the famous "Balsamic Vinegar of Modena". 7.) MINERAL WATER -- A factory has been established in Castellammare di Stabia (NA) for the bottling of the famous "Virgin Mary's Water". 8.) HAZELNUTS -- We have Four "Roasting" Factories, unified under the Branch "D'Avanzo Hazelnuts South-Italy Manifactuing". 18.000 tonnes of Hazelnuts are processed, on an yearly basis. The whole range of Hazelnuts is avaiable (Whole/Shelled, Roasted, Pieces, etc. ). 9.) PICKLES AND ALL THE VARIOUS TYPES OF SAUCES AND PUREES -- All the above products are sold, in various European and International markets, under different brands. A great success is obtaining, recently, the "Sun-Dried Tomatoes", the "Garlic Purče" and the "Unsweened Roasted Chestnuts Purče", but, other items are continuosly added to enlarge the range to be offered to our usual customers. 10.) NATIONAL RETAIL TRADE -- Two brands: "LA FILOMENA" and "LA VECCHIA FATTORIA" are used, for the National Retail Trade, and, a great success is obtaining the full range of Mushrooms. "D'AVANZO GROUP" total turn-over, during the year 2000, has been of Italian Lire 367.897.000.000 (190.002.944 Euro), while, we have had 902 fixed Employees, and, 450 seasonal workers. With the family still in control, "NICOLA D'AVANZO S.r.l." looks towards the new millennium with confidence. Successfull expansion of the business will lead to a greater involvment at the quality end of the retail market with traditional wholesale and catering customers seeing the benefit from continued investment in plant and machinery. Looking forward, the family is convinced, that, the future for "Nicola D'Avanzo S.r.l." lies in the maintenaince of their reputation for quality and excellence, and, any new product will have to satisfy these criteria.
